R.M. Williams made his first riding boot, he shaped the upper from one piece
of leather. With just one seam, at the back. It was pretty-well waterproof.
Today, R.M. Williams still make their elastic-sided boots the same way. They
use the best materials available. It takes longer. It costs more. But your
feet won't mind a bit.

Baxter
boot uppers are made from premium grade leather. And by using only soft, full-grain
leather, this ensures each foot is gloved in supple comfort. Baxters are still
made with fully welted soles. Now the welted sole is something you should
be aware of when considering boots, or even shoes, because the laborious but
crucial welting method ensures the uppers won't start to separate from the
soles - which is what happens with the cheaply made footwear. A major feature
of Baxter footwear is that it is fully repairable.
